umm...awesome!

Yes, I know...I have pledged my love for Gossip Girl in this space before. But did you know that New York Magazine has a blog dedicated to the "The Greatest Show Of Our Time". It's like having Gossip Girl on twice a week!! It is written by Jessica Pressler and Chris Rovzar, and it is witty and hilarious! You must read it if you are a Gossip Girl fan, check it out here.

Freebie Friday

I could do a Halloween post, but I'm being a bit scroogey about it this year. So instead, I have a free download for you. A Girl Named Fred has some free wallpaper for your desktop (quite appropriate, since I'm totally in love with wallpaper right now!). And what makes it even better, is that it has a November calendar on it, perfect to count down the days till the holiday season!

Thankful...

Too often it is other peoples tragedies that knock some sense into us, and make us realize that our lives are pretty good. That happened today....and it makes me think that I'm so fortunate to have a loving, amazing family and the best friends you could ever imagine.

p.s. also loving the quote on the banner of her Etsy shop, "Today is a NEW day. Don't put off your happy life!"

laundry day!

wire laundry basket from here

I am TOTALLY obsessed with this laundry cart! I know...being in love with a laundry basket is a little odd, but I just can't stop thinking about it. I first saw this cart used in the Hamptons Cottage & Gardens Idea House. This laundry room is gorgeous! It is designed by Adrienne Neff, and after checking out her website, I would just love her to do over my entire house. In the meantime, I'm thinking about how I can rework my own laundry space to accommodate this cart. I having been thinking for a while that it's time for me to redo my laundry room (well, just paint and some decor, the cabinetry is working for me), and this just gives me more incentive! I'll keep you posted.

Ode to Blair

:: image from here

Gossip Girl is my favorite show...I can't explain it, it just is. I especially love the fashions, and if there is one thing that Blair Waldorf is always wearing, it's a headband. So my Etsy find today, is an ode to Blair...

Check out VieModerne for unique headpieces. From the fanciest of feathers to simple ribbons, I'm sure you'll be able to find some Blair inspired head wear at this Etsy shop!

entertaining the EASY way

I bought the new issue of Style at Home and there are many things that I dog eared to post about. It really was a super fabulous one. As you've seen previously on our blog, C and I are part of a dinner club and it is mine and the hubby's turn next. Though it is not until early December I have been perusing the internet and various magazines for ideas on our theme of "Asian Persuasion" (and no, it's not a porn as C has tried to make very clear to our other members). We are going to incorporate some games into the night too so I am trying to come up with some "things" that fit.

One of the great ideas I saw in the mag is using scrabble letters for placecards...genious. Another is to cover your table with kraft paper and to write in black marker their names to indicate seating but I am going to change it a little and make tic tac toe squares and hangman games in between the place settings (I couldn't find this pic online but it's in the mag). These were just 2 of my faves and there are alot more so pick up the mag or check out their wesbsite. Any other thoughts, let me know!!!

Sunday Afternoon...

Perhaps I'm behind in the news of the music world, but I have never heard of Adele. I first heard her on SNL (on which, BTW, I thought Sarah Palin was fab!) last night, and I think I have found a new fave! Let me tell you, it's been a very looooong time since I have downloaded an ENTIRE album from iTunes, but I had to have this one. Adele's voice is hauntingly beautiful, and I know that you will love it too.

ummm...hello?!

#1. Have you seen these?

#2. This is the coolest site ever!

#3. Must find a way I can use all of these products!

#4. Moo

Check out Moo for mini cards, business cards, greeting cards, postcards, sticker books and note cards. This is definitely the COOLEST thing I have seen in a long time. They also have a blog where they show how customers use their products.

alter ego

So, if I lived in Milan, I would totally look like this....

some pretty

I was watching Say Yes To The Dress on TLC on the weekend, and thought it was totally awesome that the bridal consultants try on the dresses. That is sooooo what M and I would do if we owned a bridal shop! So, to honour those ladies, here is a little eye candy for your Wednesday morning.

From Monique Lhuillier Spring 2009

fall faves!

So I know...these are few and far between! But I just recently purchased some new treats for myself on my mini vay-cay. Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of nail polish. I'm a little afraid of applying colour to my face, but I have no issues with my nails! My quest has been to find the perfect pink, and the perfect dark colour. I had been partial in the past to Essie Mademoiselle, but I have found a new love....Chanel Ballerina. Yes, this is more expensive, but it is sooo worth it! It goes on like a dream, an nice wide brush, dries quickly, and you achieve the perfect pink nail in two coats! It would be the perfect shade for your wedding day. I also picked up the classic Chanel Rouge Noir...a dark blood red, perfect for fall!

My other new fave is the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Liquid makeup. Hello, it comes with a built in brush, you can't get better than that! It's so easy to put on, and has enough coverage, but still feels light. You have to do a little blending with your fingertips, but still love it just the same. Unfortunately, I don't know of anywhere in Canada that you can buy Neutrogena cosmetics, so you will just have to wait for a trip across the border.
