So I'm way excited about my purchases made with M in Minneapolis this weekend! First off, I finally got my old school wall phone at Target. It's chrome, metal, not just a cheap plastic thing, and only cost $39! This same phone sells at Pottery Barn for $79...I saved $40 people! It has this way cool ring, I love it!


I also picked up my Peel & Stick Chalkboard squares from Paper Source. You can stick them anywhere, or cut them up. They are also totally removable...seriously, I tested it out. They are made by Wallies and cost $19.95 at Paper Source...even comes with chalk! Now I must think of clever things to write on them while I wait for my phone to ring...

While enjoying my morning coffee, I was catching up on Fashion Television. There was a fantastic story on Oscar De La Renta's Spring 2008 show. If only I had all the money in the world, and the occasion to wear his clothes! They are modern, elegant, beautifully made and always classic. After looking at the clothes online, I checked out the Bridal 2008 line, and was suddenly struck at how the bridal gowns mirror the designs of his ready-to-wear line, so I thought I would share...

worth every penny

So this frame collage from The Picture Wall Company was kind of expensive, but in the end, this is the best money I've ever spent! It comes with everything and literally took 20 minutes to put all the frames up, as comes with handydandy templates and levels. Sent my pics online to my local photo developing store (my photo printer is out of ink) and bang, I've got the Perfect Picture Wall! This would of been nearly impossible and too time consuming to come up with on my own, especially up the staircase. Of course, now I want to put them everywhere!

So let's say I lived in Washington D.C. and was getting married. I would TOTALLY go to Hitched Salon. It looks like so much fun (which I can totally tell by their website), and definitely the kind of experience I would want to have as a bride. They also sell invitations, help with vendor referral and planning and sell a whole whack of accessories! I can't even begin to tell you about the lack of service, creativity and enthusiasm shown by the available bridal shops in my city. Purchasing your wedding dress, and most likely all your bridesmaid dresses from one store...this is a huge deal, and I'm so glad the ladies at Hitched have figured that out!

don't forget about mom

I don't know who ever came up with the idea that Mother's of the Bride are supposed to wear some hideous long lace jacket and dress. Seems that's what out there for them to choose from. I think your mom needs to ask herself this question, "is that something that I would normally choose to wear?". If the answer is yes, then by all means, choose the lace jacket and dress, but if the answer is no, then it's time to rethink the outfit. For instance, my mother doesn't like to wear skirts (of course, she always wore skirts when we were young, so I'm not really sure where this comes from), so she wore a really elegant pant suit for my wedding. Basically, you want to make sure Mom is comfortable, and feels as glamorous as you do (but not out shining the bride, of course!).
