I think we have done a post before on bridal makeup, but here's another. Basically, you want to keep it simple and look like yourself. I did a little searching on the internet and found some great looks.

Bobbi Brown has a whole section of their website dedicated to bridal. They have a limited edition Bridal Kit, which you can customize to your own look.


Benefit also has some great products. We found them through Sephora...they don't have a 'bridal' section, but they do have some great ideas in the "looks" part of the website. I particulary like "daydreamer", and think this would be very pretty for a bride.


One more tip...try not to tan too much before your wedding. You don't want to be an entirely different colour than the rest of your bridal party, and no one wants to see a sunburned bride with tan lines!

I will wear them...

So, last season I bought these really great white linen pants from Target and thought them perfect for the 5 bridal showers I had to attend. I sent them to my aunt to take out the pockets (I really dislike seeing things through my pants - it's not natural) and got them back this February!!!!! Anyhow, I did wear them on my March Break vacation in Lake Havasu but broke the cardinal rule of "no white before Easter." I figured it didn't much matter as most people there were over 65 and wore bedazzled sweatshirts and visors (why is that?)...anyhow, there is still snow on the ground here in the North and yet I keep looking at them sitting in my closet...so today I will wear them - even though my heavily medicated cat (a whole other story) will be the only one to notice. I found some other cute white items that would be perfect for this summer from the Gap...

saturday morning tunes

I'm just finishing up some invitations this sunny Saturday morning, and this is what's on. I'm loving the new Mandy Moore album, this particular song "Gardenia" is my fave. I know your thinking...Mandy Moore, singer of "Candy" (which secretly, we all love!)...yes, it's the same Mandy Moore, but the style is very different! Enjoy...

the thing about weddings

M and I are trying really hard to think of useful things to talk about for your wedding. It would be easy to fill up the blog with pictures of dresses and fancy parties, but is this helpful? 90% of us out there can't afford the lavish affairs we see in all the bridal mags. Instead we think it's important to make the most of what you can afford, and bring your personality into your wedding celebration. No more cookie cutter weddings! If you can't afford to have flowers on every table, pick one focal point to use them and find something fun for a centerpiece, like old photographs.

Sometimes it's the smallest things that make the party memorable...last summer we attended a wedding where the bride and groom both loved candy, so they had some of their favorites at the sign in table. At this same wedding, the groom also loved fishing, as did many of his friends, so they included fishing lures with their favours. One more fun thing about this wedding, was the way the guests got the bride and groom to kiss. The MC picked couple's names out of a bowl, that couple had to stand up and kiss, and then the bride and groom would kiss, but to add more fun, they imitated the way the couple who was chosen had kissed. It was hilarious!

Another way you can incorporate your personality, is through colour scheme. From doing wedding invitations, we know that brown and pink, pink and green, and brown and green, have been really popular the last couple of years. It's time to think outside the box, and bring some orginitality to your day through colour. Below are some bouquets and the bridesmaids dresses that inspired them.

Thank you to Ali Loves Curtis for turning me on to this AWESOME song! This is the remix for Yelle's "A Cause Des Garcons" (sorry, I don't know how to make the french thingy for the 'c'). Apparently these dancers are doing something called Tecktonic, not to mention that I think Nike hightops...you know, the ones everyone wore in elementary school, are all the rage in Europe.
