The dress for less...

I'm about to head out to the Natick Mall, one of my favorite places to shop. Really, it's because I love the shoe department at Nordstrom's! Which got me to thinking....what kind of dresses do they have? See, M got her wedding dress at Nordstrom's, on sale, on sale, and it only came out to about $150! Now that's a deal.

So, this is what I found today...the most expensive is $570, but all the others are under $500. It's time to think outside of the traditional bridal store when shopping for a dress!

Oscar de la WOW!

I think I have pledged my love for Oscar De La Renta before. I just admire his classic designs that seem to take on a modern shape every season. If I could afford it, and I would wear Oscar day and night! So, naturally, I did a quick check on what's coming up for Spring 2009 in his bridal fashion. I pretty much adored everything!

This particular dress made me think of that pink dress Marilyn Monroe wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. You know, the one she is wearing when she sings Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend. Can you believe I had a heck of a time trying to find a picture of that dress! Seriously, it's super famous, you think it would be all over the internet.

The next dress instantly made me think of an island wedding...maybe on Capri, or somewhere on the French Riviera. When Bianca Jagger married Mick Jagger, she kind of wore a similar look...Oscar's is updated for 2009. I love it!

These next two I posted because I think they are to gorgeous to ignore. One is soft and pretty, and the other is more structured and sexy. See, Oscar De La Renta has a little something for everyone!

Which are your favorites?

Speaking of shoes...

Those who know me...perhaps know my love of camoflauge. I have been known to have a few pairs of camo shorts and camo pants. I'm trying to hold myself back, and have vowed not purchase anymore.

Then, I saw these. Now, before you think I'm completely mental, I would never purchase these! What boggles my mind is that there are acutally people out there who might purchase an $800 pair of satin camoflauge Manolo Blahniks. Who are you, and what are you going to wear them with? I'm really curious. Though, I know my two nephews would probably think it was pretty cool that I had a pair of camo heels, I'm not sure who else would.

Yoo Hoo!

The new fashion season is upon us. Yay! That means lots of new wedding dresses and bridesmaids fashions to browse. I have noticed that the "trend" for wedding dresses is short hemlines. I love that idea, and think that if I were to do it again, that might just be something I choose, with a smart birdcage veil and an amazing pair of shoes!

But, today's post is all about the maids. I was checking out the 2009 look book from Jenny Yoo, and fell in love. All of these dresses would be perfect for a bridesmaid, a guest, or even the bride herself, depending on the style of wedding you are going for.

My favorites are the red and the yellow dresses...what are yours?

my bad...

What's that you say? It's been a month since our last post, and you thought we had dropped off the face of the earth? Have no fear...we are still here. See, between the holidays, going back to work, M's constant eye infections and some exciting new work, we've been busy.

So, now it's a new year. A time to get organized and start fresh! Avocado Kiss is working on a very exciting wedding this August, and we are even stepping into the "wedding coordinator" role, well, for the big day anyway. We get so much inspiration from all around us, from the Internet, magazines, and my constant favorite....the J. Crew catalogue! The current issue has peaked my interest...not only do I want all of the clothes (and the body to match), I'm loving the colour palette. So, to give you all some inspiration, here is my newly created bulletin board, inspired by J. Crew.
