spring ahead!

I know it's supposed to be Spring, but it's actually snowing where I live today! I'm so eager to see green grass and some tulips. And, of course, Spring got me thinking about shoes, which lead to this post.


This bridal ensemble was inspired by these Christian Louboutin shoes. Coincidentally, they come in both heels and flats. So, whether you are having a a more formal wedding, or something at the beach, either pair would work. The dress is a simple design from J.Crew...so a fabulous necklace would compliment it perfectly. (Incidentally, I just came back from a Caribbean vacation and at the resort I was staying at, there were many weddings...if you can do it, totally the way to go!)


These amazing orange Jimmy Choos were the jumping off point for this rehearsal or shower outfit. The dress is metallic linen from J.Crew and the bracelet is something I found at Nordstrom.

Now, I know the shoes are crazy expensive, but if they are out of your price range, there are so many less expensive options out there. Think of these outfits as inspiration for your big day!

Speaking of shoes...

Those who know me...perhaps know my love of camoflauge. I have been known to have a few pairs of camo shorts and camo pants. I'm trying to hold myself back, and have vowed not purchase anymore.

Then, I saw these. Now, before you think I'm completely mental, I would never purchase these! What boggles my mind is that there are acutally people out there who might purchase an $800 pair of satin camoflauge Manolo Blahniks. Who are you, and what are you going to wear them with? I'm really curious. Though, I know my two nephews would probably think it was pretty cool that I had a pair of camo heels, I'm not sure who else would.

I know, I know...we have been short on posts, but hopefully some beautiful accessories will make you perk up on this Thursday morning.

First in line is this adorable clutch from Love Parcel. It's only $48! I love that it has a handle, so it's easy to carry.

Now, of course you need a bracelet. I love this bangel from Anthropologie. It's so delicate, but definitely a statement piece!

shoes, shoes and more shoes

I've been in Vancouver for a few days visiting the fam....there a few things I've learned. First off, it rains a lot, but when it's sunny, it's spectacular.

Second, there is no way I'm eco-friendly enough to live in this city. Sure, there are lots of cars everywhere, but people also ride their bikes a lot and everyone brings their own shopping bags everywhere! I even saw a woman at The Bay (a Canadian department store) bring her own bag for her purchases. If only I could be so dedicated!

Third, I have learned not to wear my Puma California sneakers without socks when I go shopping (can you say multiple blisters all over my feet!)

And lastly, Vancouver is a great place to shop...especially for shoes! I've managed to purchase 4 pairs, which is like 1 pair for each day I've been here. And can I also say, that they are all comfortable, suitable for everyday and not one has a stiletto in sight! (On a side note, when packing to come here, I couldn't figure out what shoes I wear in warm weather, besides flip flops and my Tory Burch flats which just don't stay on my feet...I've been in Uggs to long!) I've also noticed that Vancouver has a large selection of comfortable shoes, it must be because people walk everywhere.

I'm still lusting after the Calvin Klein Parma shoes I posted a few days ago, but figure I need everyday shoes more. I also purchased a pair of hiking shoes from Ecco, sort of like a mary jane style, but I can't find a picture. I think I will have very happy feet all summer long!

I am currently coveting these shoes from Calvin Klein after I tried them on yesterday. I have to seek out a 7 1/2...my search continues.

my old Kentucky home...

Tomorrow is the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby. I don't know why, but I love to watch the race. I don't follow horse racing, and I know nothing about the horses. It just seems that every year, on the first Saturday in May, I always watch. Those sappy montages about the horses, the trainers and the jockeys on NBC always suck me in!

What I would really like to do, is go to the Kentucky Derby! I have been to the races before, and it's lots of fun to place your $2 bets. I can only imagine the Derby would be a thousand times more exciting. Not too mention it's all about the hats! I LOVE hats, but don't have enough nerve to wear one. I have a fantastic hat sitting in my closet, complete with fancy embellishment, that I got on sale, on sale....I thought I would wear it to a wedding or something, but always chicken out at the last minute.

So, I solemnly swear, that if you want to take me to the Kentucky Derby, I will wear a hat, together with a perfectly appropriate outfit...perhaps like this...

Yikes! Apparently going to the Derby will cost me a small fortune...you'd better give me lots of time to save up. I guess I'm also going to have to learn to love a mint julep, as this is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby. It's a mixture of whiskey and mint...I'm not quite understanding the enjoyment here?

Perfection!

I will admit it, I am addicted to shoes. And, if I could afford them, I would buy these works of art from Christian Lacroix. I don't exactly have an occasion to wear them, but I would just put them on my shelf and admire them....maybe on a rotating pedestal with lights. If you are a bride looking for a splurge (a $725 one, that is), then wouldn't these be so fabulous peeking out from under your gown. They are....perfection.
